HANSON STEEL BUILDINGS ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT RE-COMMENCING OPERATIONS

After suspending work activities following the Government’s lockdown, we have taken time to review further advice and consider when we should resume operations.

As a company that manufactures, distributes and installs we have had to look at various advice from all sectors of the industry – Advice from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, The Construction Leadership Council, through to the DHF (Door and Hardware Federation).

The UK government fully accepts that, for many in manufacturing, distribution and construction, working requires travelling to a place of work and whilst there is no restriction on manufacturing, there is acceptance of the need to keep supply chains moving, to protect the economy as much as possible. It is their current view that construction-related activities, including manufacturing, distributing, installation can, in principle, continue during lockdown. (Note that the situation is different in Scotland).

As such, Hanson Garages are planning to re-commence operations from the 11th May with a phased return. This will start with limited installation and production teams for the first week and provide cover for all critical areas of our business. This will give us further time to put even more measures in place to keep all of our manufacturing workers safe – measures including heightened hygiene procedures, staff rotas and social distancing. It will also allow us time to ensure our suppliers are able to provide us with the necessary raw materials for us to maintain production and deliveries. We are doing all we can to keep our staff and customers safe, whilst fully complying with current Government guidelines.

Following the completion of this initial phase, we plan to bring more installation and production teams back w/c 18th May and then respond accordingly by increasing the staffing levels to meet demand across the different product groups.

With regard to deliveries, we will, of course, prioritise existing orders and will begin to communicate regarding timelines for fulfilment of these orders. We are endeavouring to meet our standard delivery lead times as usual however due to current circumstances deliveries might take a little longer than normal.
